To Lynn's friends and Family,
Lynn was a great competitor and a great friend..
Chouinards, Bricks, and McGillivrays became fast friends as the Calgary Bunch on Chairman Council trips. Lynn was unfazed in Paris when Air Canada lost all their luggage for 2 days. In Provence, we laughed for hours telling tales out of school. In Vienna, ourselves and the Asts could be found on our hands and knees in a clump of bushes outside a restaurant singing songs from Mary Poppins as a tour bus unloaded 60 weary wives and brokers from 15 hours of travelling around Germany.
On New Year's Day (November 1st) , I announced proudly to the manager, that I pulled in 1/2 million bucks in commission before 10 o'clock. I was the TOP BROKER IN THE FIRM!! It took Lynn about 2 weeks to beat me on his way to $20 million that year.
We always joked that all we needed to make a bunch of money was a telephone and a T2033 report.
Away from work, I often fished at Bird One right off Haida Gwai; Lynn also fished there after anchoring in Naden Harbour.
I was happy to have informed Lynn about the MD Anderson Clinic in Houston and Cheryl picked up on that right away; it was a huge joy to see him recover in '08.
And just a while back, we both shared a great conversation about a book we both read, The Sure Thing, about a Brit who consistently beat the odds betting ON HIS OWN HORSES!
Oh Lynn, how I will miss you!
