Martin Nicolet Mann

Martin Mann passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 15, 2017 at the age of 90 years.
He will be lovingly remembered by Eleanor, his wife of 61 years; his 6 children:Ken (Barb), Laurette, Mary Lou (Mark), Christine (Nelson), Tim (Caroline), Sheila (Matt);his 15 grandchildren and 2 great-grandsons; his sisters Mary Mann and Leona Rippl;brother Roman Mann (Margaret); sisters- in- law: Catherine Mann, Donna Gaffney,Charlotte Gaffney; brothers-in-law: Ken Westby, Michael Forestell and Bob Williams;as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Martin was born in Viscount, Saskatchewan and grew up on the family farm in Viscount. He attended High School at Muenster College and went on to study in Brockville with the Redemptorists. Work took him to Regina, Saskatchewan, where he met the love of his life, Eleanor Gaffney. Throughout his working life he lived in Saskatchewan, British Columbia, and Banff before settling in Calgary. Martin was active with the Calgary Ski Patrol and passed his love of nature onto his children through camping, hiking, canoeing, stargazing, skiing and skating. He was mechanically inclined, always fixing broken appliances and keeping
numerous cars road worthy for his family. Martin had a great sense of humour and enjoyed telling stories to his children. His deep faith provided a foundation for his family's spiritual journey.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated as St. James Catholic Church (5504 20 Street SW) on Friday, October 20, 2017 at 1:00 pm. A family gravesite service will follow at a later date, at St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Viscount R.M. Saskatchewan.
