Heidemarie Griffith

It is with great sadness, yet gentle relief that we announce the passing of Heidemarie Griffith (nee Hoyka) on Oct. 7, 2016. Digging in her heels with "I still have so much to do!", Heidi fought cancer with a vengeance these past two years. Born in Germany Oct. 9, 1948, she immigrated to Canada the summer of 1956 with her parents. She leaves to mourn her loving hubby AND best friend of 30+ years, Bob Griffith. Also her children Kriss (Laurie) Lockhart, Shelley Lockhart, Jolene Lockhart, Cindy (Darren) Nyhoff, Susan (Roland) Milligan and Tim (Contessa) Griffith; grandchildren, Graham, Emily, Seriph, Nicholas, Marino and Gabriel; sister, Greta Hofmeister; sister in-law, Donna (Mike) Lockhart-Bishop; nieces and nephews, Doris (Bobby) Hoyka; Rainer (Lisa) Hofmeister; Roland Hoyka; Stefan (Amanda) Hofmeister; Max (Shyenne) Hofmeister; Jordan (Jenni) Hofmeister; Rob Bishop, Megan Bishop; extended family members in BC, Germany and Austria Numerous Friends, that were like Family... you know who you are! She was Pre-deceased by her parents, Hildegard & Gottfried Hoyka; in-laws, Arthur & Clare Griffith; brother, Gerhard (and Betty) Hoyka and aunt Elfriede Schmalle. Heidi had a very active life pursuing the very many things she loved including Travel and Cruising. From starting her career in the Neonatal ICU, to looking after her many Group Insurance Clients, to owning her Day-Tour Company, "Island Outings," to managing existing Bed & Breakfasts' with Bob - they were definitely "people person's." They were also involved with the Sooke Search & Rescue team. And looking after patients at the Fort Macleod Senior Lodge was a highlight. Heidi & Bob were also very involved in Lions Clubs International for well over 30 years. No funeral upon request, please raise your favourite adult beverage and reflect on Heidi's life and memories... Cheers! Thank you to Dr. M. Brigden and his staff, and a special "Thank You" to Dr. B.
