Wilma Noordhof

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Wilma Noordhof (née Kwant), who left us with the same grace and gentleness that defined her life. Born in Amsterdam, Netherlands, to Louis and Francis Kwant, Wilma immigrated to Canada as a young girl and made her home in Calgary.

Wilma was a woman of quiet strength and immense kindness. Though she held various positions throughout her career, her true calling and greatest passion was as a devoted wife and homemaker. She created a warm and welcoming sanctuary for those she loved, finding joy in the simple pleasures of gardening, reading, and the company of her beloved cats.

An early encounter with significant health challenges shaped Wilma into a woman of profound empathy. She became a gifted listener and a loyal friend, known for a sweet and upbeat disposition that never wavered despite life’s setbacks. Whether she was fishing, camping, or listening to music, Wilma’s presence was a steady source of comfort. She especially cherished family reunions, taking the time to truly know and support her extended family and friends.

Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Francis Kwant, and her father-in-law, John Noordhof.

She is survived by her loving partner in life and devoted husband, Loren. Her memory will be cherished by her brother, Louis Kwant (Grace); her sister, Jeannette Hamilton (Chris); her mother-in-law, Judy (Nick); her brother-in-law, Brad (Michelle); and her sister-in-law, Chalae. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and a large extended family across Canada, the United States, and the Netherlands.

Wilma’s gentle, supportive nature and kind heart will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
