William 'Mike' Eager Obituary

Michael's Family wishes to thank the Drop in Centre, Social Services, the Rockyview Hospital ICU and his close circle of Friends for their kindness and support. Michael passed suddenly from complications of sepsis.

The Family thanks Michael's good friend Daniel for this thoughtful and heartfelt obituary

Clad in his signature color, pink, Mike was a vibrant presence wherever he went.  Music wasn't just a passion for Mike; it was the rhythm of his life. Whether performing a bar gig with one of his many bands over the years - one of his most beloved being Continuum - or under the open sky as a street musician, Mike was keen to enchant audiences with the timeless tunes of Pink Floyd, Steely Dan, and other classic rock era bands.

When not actively playing, Mike was often orchestrating sound and lighting for renowned bands including Nickelback and Janis Joplin, among several other big names. Mike's melodies resonated deeply with all who had the pleasure of listening.  Mike's heart overflowed with affection for his furry companions, especially his beloved Boxers. But it was Farley, the mischievous black Labrador with a hint of Pitty, who most recently stole his heart.

Born in Toronto and raised in Calgary, Mike's life was a symphony of kindness, creativity, and passion. From his early days at Dr. E.P. Scarlett High School to his studies at the Columbia Academy of Recording Arts, Mike's journey was always accompanied by the harmonious melodies he effortlessly produced on his beloved keyboard.  In every facet of his life, Mike approached each day with the enthusiasm of a rock star - and although beer was inevitably his drink of choice, coffee was a close second, always with a splash of cream.  His love for vibrant hues extended to his gardening, where he nurtured blooms with the same care and tenderness, he showed to those around him.

Beyond the stage and the garden, Mike was a culinary maestro, delighting in the chaos of the kitchen as he whipped up delectable dishes. To those of us who knew him well, it was really just Mike making a mess in the kitchen.  His passion for food led him to manage a successful pizza restaurant and work in the kitchens of several esteemed Calgary establishments, and Restaurant 27 in Red Deer.

Though Mike may have taken his final bow, his music will continue to echo in the hearts of those who were touched by his gentle soul. As we say goodbye to our dear friend, let us remember him not with sorrow, but with the same joy and vibrancy that he brought to our lives.

Rest in peace, Mike, and may your melodies soar forever in the symphony of the cosmos. You will be dearly missed, but your legacy of love and music will live on in our hearts eternally.
