On Wednesday, September 2, 2026, Bill passed away peacefully at the amazing age of 95 and is now resting in the arms of his Saviour Jesus.
He is survived by his sons: Greg (Carmen) and Don (Carla); grandchildren: David, Erin, Talon and Geode; brother Don and sisters Shirley, Arline and Lorna. Bill was predeceased by his loving wife of 62 years, Anita, and by his parents, Roy and Blanche.
Bill was born on June 22nd, 1931 and raised on the family farm outside Marchwell, SK. While he loved the farm, he left to work in his uncle’s road construction company, then in warehousing and finally found his career with Pitney Bowes, where he worked as a service technician for three decades.
He was a natural handyman and loved woodworking. Anita and Bill built their first house together shortly after marrying and lived there for their entire married life. Bill loved aviation, building model planes as a kid and more complicated R/C planes as an adult. He realized his dream of becoming a private pilot and graduated to the real thing, building and flying an RV4 with his dear friend Gord Russell. Bill appreciated the outdoors with family road trips and camping, and especially fishing. Anita and Bill were avid gardeners and enjoyed their beautiful backyard garden. Bill was a doting ‘Pa’ to his grandchildren, playing hide-and-seek and passing on his woodworking skills by building wooden toys together. He lived out his faith through service in the church, including handyman work, church council, cantor, and singing for many years in the choir and with the Good News Singers.
A Funeral Service will be held at the Shepherd King Lutheran Church (804 75 Ave SW, Calgary, AB) on Friday, September 11, 2026 at 10:00 am.
