It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, who passed away on April 6th, 2026, at the age of 86.
Bill’s life was one rooted in family, career and community. He was born on September 5, 1939, in Redland, Alberta and spent most of his early years in Calgary. Alberta remained his cherished home throughout most of his life.
Bill met his late wife, Myrna, in Edmonton. They married in 1964 and moved to Calgary in 1965. In 1975, Bill and Myrna and their four children - Jody, Lori, Andy and Neil – moved to a home they built on an acreage outside of Airdrie. Myrna predeceased Bill in 2001.
In his later years, Bill met and married Diane, and together they enjoyed almost twenty years of fun, friendship, travel and golf, living first in Airdrie, then in Invermere, BC, and lastly back in Calgary.
Bill studied forestry at the University of Montana, a reflection of his lifelong love for nature and the outdoors. This passion carried through into his personal life, where he found great joy in fishing, camping, and spending time surrounded by the natural beauty he so deeply appreciated.
Bill enjoyed a long and successful career as a geophysicist in the Calgary area, earning the respect of colleagues and peers for his knowledge, dedication, and integrity.
Known for his sharp wit and warm sense of humor, Bill brought laughter and lightness to those around him. He was a kind and generous man, always ready to lend a helping hand or share a story. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Bill is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Diane, and by his six children and their partners, his 16 grandchildren and his six great-grandchildren, as well as many close friends whose lives he touched in countless ways.
Bill’s legacy of love, kindness, and quiet strength will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
Bill and his family are thankful to the wonderful team at Chartwell Eau Claire Residences for their care and support during his time there.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date at his beloved Fallen Timber.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages spending time outdoors in his memory—casting a line, sitting by a campfire, or simply enjoying the beauty of nature he held so dear.
