Wendy Dolny passed away peacefully on December 16, 2025, at the age of 91.
Wendy was born in Surrey, England, in 1934. At the age of twelve, Wendy and her family immigrated to Canada aboard the Queen Mary following the Second World War. Her family settled in Saskatchewan, where she later met her husband, Ed. They were married in 1953 and welcomed seven children together.
In 1968, Wendy and Ed moved to Calgary with their children, where they built their lives and raised their family. Wendy was a proud and devoted member of Legion 285 where she volunteered for countless hours and met many friends. Her crossword puzzles kept her sharp, and she enjoyed playing the lottery, but her greatest joy came from being a grandmother and great-grandmother, a role she embraced wholeheartedly and with immense pride.
Wendy especially cherished summers visiting family on Vancouver Island with her husband, and they extended their travels to destinations such as Spain, France, Switzerland, Germany, London, Hawaii, Arizona, Palm Springs, Las Vegas, and Mexico.
Wendy will be remembered for her unwavering devotion to her family. Her face lit up the moment one of her loved ones walked through the door. When her house was full, her heart was full.
She was predeceased by her husband, Ed; her sons, Gord, and Rick; her parents, Kay, and Ken (Bud); her brother, Ted; and sister, Daphne.
Wendy will be lovingly remembered by her sister Shereen, Brother Milt (Barb) and children: Gary (Brenda), Ray, Janice (Gerard), Keith (Debbie), and Sandy (Harvey); her twelve grandchildren; her twelve great-grandchildren; and her many nieces and nephews.
“Always In Our Hearts”
In accordance with Wendy’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Wendy’s memory to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or the Alberta Cancer Foundation.
