It is with profound sadness we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Frederick (Fred) Adams, on Friday, November 1, 2024, in Calgary, AB, at age 86 years.
Born in St. Boniface, MB, Fred is survived his wife of 67 years, Patricia (nee Cathline), six children, Fred (Debbie), Ralph, Ernie, Danny, Angela, and Dianne (Charles); grandchildren, Christopher (Dianna), Darren (Morgan), Jennifer, Nicole (Griffin), Matthew, (Danielle), Carissa, Drake, Haley, and EJ; several great-grandchildren, brother Frank, and sister Marion. Predeceased by his brother Les, sister Donna Margo, and parents.
Fred joined the Canadian Army as a soldier apprentice in 1954, at age 16, with the RCASC. As a cook he was attached with several different units, here in Canada as well as Congo, Egypt, Cyprus, and Germany (with his family alongside) for 3 years. Final posting was in Calgary, AB, in 1975, retiring after 23 plus years in 1977. Fred also delved into skydiving with the PPCLI in Edmonton, AB. Fred proceeded to be employed with the CBE for 21 years, retiring in 1998. Fred and Pat (after her own retirement) travelled south in their RV to Yuma, Arizona for 17 winters. In between, they enjoyed several cruises, finally staying home in later years and enjoying retired life. Fred and Pat enjoyed golfing with friends as well as camping, fishing, and skidooing over the years with family. Fred was a proud member of the Calgary Centennial Branch #285 Legion.
A great thank you to the Doctors and staff at Rockyview General Hospital who attended to Fred. There will be no service at this time, as per Fred's wishes
