Sadly, my mom, Violet Courtney, passed away suddenly on August 28, 2026, at the age of 86 years old and would have been 87 on September 9, 2026. Born in Swift Current Saskatchewan, raised in Rutland, BC, she was the youngest of nine. She lived most of her life here in Calgary.
My mom was a force; she had a strong intuitive sense about herself. She loved to laugh, loved to have fun, was very creative and very generous in sharing her creations. She was sassy and no one could tell her what to do. She had an infectious love of gardening and an ability to beautify her world, and yours if you let her.
She was a great human and her contribution to the world will be forever missed. She is survived by all of us who loved her, myself Carrie Grant, my husband Lynn Wood, my son Parker Wood, her favorite niece Sherleen, her best friend Faye and all our friends, relatives and her neighbors.
