It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Valerie Heck, of the city of Calgary, on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at the age of 68.
Valerie (better known as Val) was born on May 17, 1956, and was the youngest daughter of Mary and John Wasyluk and loving mom to Chelsea Heck. Val grew up in Calgary, moving away later on to live in Grande Prairie, Alberta, where she worked at Zellars. When she moved to Strathmore with her daughter Chelsea, Val got involved with volunteering with the Youth of Strathmore, where she received an award for all her hard work.
Val loved the rodeo; she loved to watch the Chuck wagon races and all the other events. Val was an artistic person, who loved to decorate butterflies and horseshoes. She had a wonderful eye for crafts. In her spare time Val loved to build puzzles and visit with good friends.
Val is survived by her daughter, Chelsea Heck; her brother, Victor Wasyluk; as well as nieces, Lori Klein, Adrienne Paterson, Susan Brabant; and nephews, Randy Klein, Brian Klein, David Wasyluk, Christian Wasyluk; and Kevin Dradon.
She was predeceased by her parents Mary and John Wasyluk, brother Gary Wasyluk, sisters Anita Klein and Janet Coreman.
Graveside Service will be held at Queen’s Park Cemetery (3219 4 Street NW) on Saturday, May 17, 2025 @ 1:00 p.m.
