With sadness the Kramer family announces the passing of their mother.
Therese Claire Kramer nee Van Allen died July 17th, 2025.
One of four daughters of Colonel William Van Allen, a veteran of the Boer War and Mary Eva Van Allen nee McAvoy, Claire knew the definition of discipline, civility and survival. Claire out lived all her 9 siblings.
Growing up in the Chambery district (Frenchman River area of Southern Saskatchewan) on a rural property provided her with the tools she needed to forge a new life off the farm.
Moving to the capital city of Regina in 1946 to pursue a nursing career she graduated from the Regina Grey Nuns’ Hospital School of Nursing becoming a Register Nurse in 1948.
In 1950 she married Donald Kramer, and she left her nursing career behind to start afresh with the epic challenges of raising 5 children, contributing to the community in a discreet manner, and carefully managing her husband in building the family business to great success.
A generous volunteer, philanthropist, friend, confidante and mentor to many, Claire had a love of the arts, letter writing, baking, world travels, entertaining friends, indigenous peoples, her children, grandchildren and most importantly, her husband Don, who was a handful to say the least.
She commented frequently that her greatest contribution in her years on this earth were her children. We hope that some of us live up to her expectations.
Few people are aware of Claire's contributions to the communities wherever she lived. If there was a need Claire offered up a solution and saw it through.
Claire is survived by her 5 children and their spouses, 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, sisters-in-law Garda Van Allen, Ann Kramer, brother-in-law Robert Kramer and numerous nieces and nephews.
Many thanks and deep gratitude to all the carers in Claire's last year of life.
There will be a private family burial.
