It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Ted Kornak, husband, father, and grandfather on Wednesday, March 8, 2023.
Ted was born on May 4, 1936, in Yorkton, Saskatchewan, to Ukrainian immigrants Steven and Anne Kornak. Ted grew up in Yorkton where he developed his passion for golfing. After graduating high school, Ted went to a teacher’s college in Regina. He received his teaching certificate and moved to Calgary where he started his career with the Calgary Catholic School Board. This is where he met his wife, Myrna. He spent many years as a principal before finishing his career teaching industrial arts. In 1972, Ted started Brentwood Printing in his garage and built the company up to where it is today. He retired in 1989, which allowed him to spend much more time on the golf course.
Ted and Myrna were very active members of the Dots and Dashers Square Dance Club. This became a wonderful addition to their life as it flourished many new friendships and gave them the opportunity to dance in the Opening Ceremonies of the 1988 Olympic Winter Games. Ted and Myrna were also founding and active members of St. Luke’s Parish.
Ted is lovingly remembered by his wife of 60 years, Myrna; his children, Patrick (Lysa), Mark (Vanessa), Anita (Richard), Greg (Erika), and Margot (Ryan); and his grandchildren, Cool, Luke, Natasha, Tabitha, Alexis, Rachelle, Ryan, Will, and Jaden. He was predeceased by his brother Harry (Patricia), and survived by his sisters Elizabeth and Martha (Albert).
Funeral Mass will be held at St. Luke’s Catholic Church (1566 Northmount Dr. N.W., Calgary) on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., with a reception to follow in the Parish Hall.
