Susan Margaret (Chudleigh) Shenfield

Susan Margaret Shenfield (nee Chudleigh), beloved mother to Tristan, Wyatt, Madison, and Brooklyn, passed away peacefully in her hometown of Calgary on July 7, 2025, surrounded by family.

Susan (Sue) was born in Calgary in September of 1966, to Kathleen Ruth (Kay) and Louis Sidney (Sid) Chudleigh in the community of Thorncliffe Greenview, she was the youngest of six children. She attended the schools of Corpus Christi elementary school, St Helena junior high school, and St Francis high school. She went on to study business administration at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology and was a commercial banker/securities commissioner for the Royal Bank of Canada and Canada Trust. Sue took special interest in her children’s education and well-being working alongside them at the Calgary Board of Education and later at the Alberta Children’s hospital.

In September of 1995 she married her high school sweetheart, Marty, and together they began a wonderful family. She was active in her children’s sports and school activities as a coach, volunteer, and avid fan. Her passion was her family; she loved the outdoors and time spent at the family cabin in Gull Lake and later in her special paradise in Montana. She loved her children, family life, nature walks, travel, waterskiing, snowmobiling, mountain air, fresh lakes and the wildlife that came to see her every day. She held a special place in her heart for Utah, the family dog, and a kindred spirit with Scarlett, a local doe whom she befriended.

Sue had a kind heart, was a devoted mother, loving wife and wonderful woman. Her world revolved around her family, who will miss her dearly.

Sue was preceded in death by her father Sidney (1975), mother Kathleen (2024), sister in law Cheryl (2023), brother in law Tony and is survived by family members Gordon (Debbie), James , Maureen, Carol and Anne (Larry) who will never forget the love she brought to their lives.

Sue fought a courageous fight with cancer of everything, beating all odds and staying ever positive and active throughout her battle. She was helped immensely by the wonderful staff at Texas Oncology and at the Arthur EJ Child Comprehensive Cancer Center.

A funeral mass will be held July 17th, 2025, at the St. Joseph’s church - 640 19th Avenue NW, Calgary AB at 2:00 pm. A reception will follow at the Triwood Community Hall – 2244 Chicoutimi Drive NW, Calgary AB at 4:00 pm.
