It is with deep respect and gratitude for a life well lived that we announce the passing of Stanley Lloyd Weber on March 18, 2026, at the age of 75. Stan was a devoted family man, respected business leader, and a quiet force for good in his community.
Born and raised in Calgary, Stan began working in his teens for Cardinal Coach Lines Limited, the bus company founded by his father, Gerald (Jerry), in 1947. In the early 1970s, Stan moved his young family to Fox Creek, Alberta, where he worked as an area manager. In 1977, Stan returned to Calgary and within a decade, became president of Cardinal, carrying forward a legacy of unwavering commitment to service, reliability and care. Stan built lifelong friendships with his coworkers, colleagues, suppliers, and clients and he trusted his employees, empowering them to do their best.
A tireless advocate for school bus safety, Stan implemented company-wide safety standards that were later adopted as provincial regulations. He was active in several transportation and safety committees throughout his 50-year career. A supporter of trades education, he also played a meaningful role in advancing opportunities through the Registered Apprenticeship Program (RAP). After selling the family business to First Student Canada in 2005, Stan continued as Western Regional Vice President until his retirement in 2016.
A firm believer in giving back, Stan was a founding member of the Rotary Club of Calgary Olympic, where he exemplified the spirit of “Service Above Self.” He was also an avid supporter of the Huntington Society of Canada, a cause close to his family. Stan helped initiate Achieve, a successful multi-year fundraising partnership between Rotary and the Huntington Society. Throughout his life, he quietly helped and mentored many, never seeking recognition.
Stan and his wife, Dorota, shared a deep love of nature and the outdoors, enjoying hiking, fishing, skiing, and waterskiing. They spent winters in Cabo San Lucas, where they enjoyed Stan’s favourite pastime, golf. Stan felt most at home at Lake Edith in Jasper, spending summer days at the family cottage and taking in the view of the snow-capped and formidable Mount Edith Cavell.
He loved traveling the world with Dorota and cherished trips with siblings, children, grandchildren, and friends, whether fishing at Haida Gwai, going to Africa on safari, celebrating Christmas in Mexico, or heading to Austin, Texas, for Formula One.
Stan was known for his love of a good joke. He was a fan of Gary Larson’s The Far Side, and enjoyed gently ribbing those around him, always with a twinkle in his eye.
Stan will be remembered for his strength, generosity, and lifelong service to others. He was a remarkable man whose influence will be felt for generations.
Stan is lovingly remembered by his beloved wife, Dorota; her parents, Zibi and Sylwia; her daughter, Natalia (Igor); Stan’s children, Chris (Julie), Terry (Farida), and Nicole (Dave); grandchildren, Kieran and Hayden; his brother, Roy (Ruth); sister, Diane (Wayne); numerous cousins and nephews; and the many colleagues, friends, and community members whose lives he enriched. He was predeceased by his parents, his brothers Steven and Christopher, and his grandson Cory.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Gallery on the Green Congress Hall (18011 Spruce Meadows Way SW, Calgary, Alberta) on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at 12:00 pm. Live-streaming of the service will available through this link or below.
