Sophie (Stelmach) Gubersky

Sophie Gubersky "Baba" (nee Stelmach) passed away on June 20, 2025 at the age of  94 years.  She is survived by four loving daughters; Linda Martinelli, Janet Gubersky (Kevin), Patty Daggett (Paul) and Shirley Gubersky and three granddaughters; Rya Hynes (Shane), Andie Daggett and Alix Gallant (Tom) as well as two step granddaughters; Michele Gray (Paul) and Edie Martinelli (Trey).  Sophie is also survived by her brothers; Alex Stelmach (Angeline), Albert Stelmach (Florence) and Ed Stelmach (Marie) and numerous nieces and nephews. Sophie was predeceased by her husband Russell Gubersky and her brother Victor Stelmach.  A special thanks goes out to Dr. Easton and the staff at Prominence Way as well as Dr. Smith and the staff at Intercare Brentwood for all the great care and compassion they gave our mother. Over the past five years, Sophie's health issues curtailed her daily activities, but her greatest joy were the visits with her great grandchildren Halston, Beckett and Lenni.  Baba will be missed. 

A Divine Liturgy will be held at St. Stephen’s Protomartyr Ukrainian Catholic Church (4903 45 St SW) on Friday, June 27, 2025 at 11:00am with a reception to follow. Graveside Service to follow reception at Eden Brook Memorial Gardens.  If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Alberta Cancer Foundation (www.albertacancer.ca) or  Alzheimer’s Dementia Calgary (www.alzheimercalgary.ca)
