Silvia was born in Grimaldi, Cosenza, Italy on May 15, 1939. She immigrated to Canada with her family in 1955 and married Joe in 1956. Silvia and Joe worked hard and raised a family closely together with her sisters and their families in Fernie, British Columbia and Calgary, Alberta. Silvia very much enjoyed, and was proud of her 40-year career at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary, Alberta. But her greatest joy was her grandchildren and especially her great-grandchild Olivia.
Silvia loved visiting friends and family, telephone and video calls, playing cards, watching the Calgary Flames hockey games and her Italian tv shows. Family and friends were most important to her as she had daily calls with her sisters and friends from everywhere (Italy, USA, and many cities across Canada too).
The family would like to thank the staff of the emergency department at the Foothills Medical Center for taking care of Silvia with care and compassion.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
