Shirley Anna (Lendvoy) Witzke

Shirley Witzke passed away on February 28, 2025 at the age of 86 entering into the presence of her Lord and Saviour.  Shirley is survived by her daughter Sandee (Rhys) Jones, son Garth Witzke, her grandchildren Shannon Jones, Carina (Nolan) Ens, Vivian (Doane) Jensen, Susan (Devon) Jaakkola, Melanie Witzke and Jacob Witzke, and her great-grandchildren Tobiah and Antigone.  Shirley was predeceased by her husband Richard Witzke, father and mother, Joseph and Annie Lendvoy and brother Joseph Lendvoy.

She was born in Lestock, SK and moved to Longview, AB at a young age where she attended school. After graduation she moved to Calgary attending SAIT, and from there got a job as a secretary downtown Calgary. During this time she met Richard at First Alliance Church and married 1959. They became instrumental in starting Foothills Alliance Church in 1965. Being part of Camp Chamisall as a cook and registrar gave her great joy.  Along with looking after Alison M. as a baby, working part-time at the Bay and Eatons, she filled her time with camping in the mountains, doing hand crafts(she was known as a knit-a-holic), cooking, talking on the phone or going for coffee with friends but most of all she treasured her grandchildren.

She will be remembered for her big smile and praising Jesus in song.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Foothills Alliance Church (333 Edgepark Blvd NW) on Friday, March 7, 2025, at 11:00 am. For those unable to attend in person, a livestream link will be available below.
