Shirley Helen Horb (Née Klein) passed away peacefully in Calgary on the evening of Tuesday, April 28, 2020, with family by her side.
Shirley was born on September 26, 1948, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Toronto, Ontario, to Emma Elizabeth Klein (Halbach) and Michael Klein. She moved to Calgary, Alberta, in the early '70s, where she raised her two sons.
In her spare time, her focus was always to make time for family and friends alike. She enjoyed golfing, playing games, dancing, going for walks, hiking, reading, going to the theatre, and had recently taken up Frisbee Golf. Her passion for the mountains was paramount, whether going for a drive through the Bow Valley or hiking Johnston Canyon. She often spoke about how the mountains touched her and brought her peace.
While winter was her least favourite season, Christmas was her absolute ideal time of the year. She loved to decorate the house, bring everyone together, and spoil her family. Her love for travelling took her to the United States on multiple occasions, Mexico, France, and Japan.
Shirley is survived by her partner Ray, his daughter Corinna, sons Shaun and Scott, two grandchildren, Issa and Zenkei, and her sisters, Doreen and Joyce.
Shirley wished that instead of flowers, donations could be made to the Tom Baker Cancer Centre Unit 47, Foothills Country Hospice, or the Calgary Food Bank.
Shirley will forever live on through all of us.
