Shelly Rogne Obituary

Shelly Lynn Rogne passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 2, 2024, at 10:44am after a hard-fought battle with cancer.

Darlene and Jim McKibbin welcomed Shelly into the world on June 25, 1963, in Winnipeg, MB. 17 years later, Shelly – the trainer of the Sheldon Williams High School football team – met David, the quarterback, on the football field. True high school sweethearts, they have been together ever since.

Shelly went by many names – daughter, sister, wife, mama, nana, aunty, teacher and Rogs. The love that she poured into her own children, nieces, and nephews, extended into neighborhood kids and her classrooms. As an educator for 39 years, she positively impacted thousands of students and colleagues.

Shelly was a force. A protective mama bear that would do anything for her boys. A planner of any and every event. A tireless and compassionate community advocate that fought for what was right without delay or hesitation. Shelly was the kind of person who was there when everybody else had left.

2024 was supposed to be a big year – Shelly’s retirement from teaching, her 40th wedding anniversary, and the birth of her 2nd grandchild. While she passed too soon, Shelly’s memories, guidance, and love will live on. Heaven gained the most amazing woman, and we now have our guardian angel.

Shelly is survived by her mother, Darlene; her husband, David; her sons, John and Michael and their wives Kendra and Caitlin; her grandchildren Kolson and Reese; her sister Kerry, husband Jeff and kids; and her Grand Beach family.

As Shelly was the anchor of many communities, two celebrations of life are planned for her friends, coworkers, and students to attend:

Friday Evening, August 9, 2024, at Grand Beach Community Club in Grand Beach, Manitoba

Saturday Afternoon, September 28, 2024, at Lord Beaverbrook HS Main Gym in Calgary, Alberta
