Shawna Marie Cossette

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our daughter, wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend. Your wings were ready but our hearts were not.

Shawna was born in Calgary, Alberta on April 15, 1962 to Caroline and Elliott Long. Left to mourn are, her mother Caroline Long; Kevin, her husband of 18 years; sons Chris (Ivane), Daniel, and Tyler; daughter Kristal (Curtis); sisters Karen (Byron) and Sharlyne; grandchildren Shyanne and Hannah; nieces Joylene (Tim) and family, Lindsay (Ryan) and family, Karriann and family, Kelly (Bobby) and family; nephew Ryan; as well as numerous extended family and friends. Upon her passing she is reunited with her dad Elliott Long; Uncle Jerry Kiprick; brother-in-law Donny Reid, aunts, uncles, and cousins. She will be lovingly remembered as a strong person, beautiful inside and out, with a genuine heart and a warrior’s soul. She is the sea—beautiful to watch but dangerous to mess with, especially when it came to her family.

A Visitation will take place at Evan J. Strong Funeral Services on Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at 5:00-8:00pm. Due to Covid restrictions, only 20 guests will be permitted in the building at a time on a rotational basis. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made directly to the SPCA Animal Rescue in Shawna’s name.
