Shawn was a loving son, brother and husband.
Born in Calgary, he spent most of his early life in Ottawa, moving to Calgary later in life to seek better opportunities.
Shawn was a hardworking man, building himself up from nothing, always positive and resilient. He took every opportunity to learn and grow. Even a broken hip didn't keep him down.
When he got to Calgary he met the love of his life, Diesa. He showered her with all the love and support his big heart could give.
Shawn is greatly missed by his wife, Diesa. Siblings Maureen (Earl), Daniel, Patrick, Colleen (Bob) and Leo (Jennifer) and his nephew Nick. Predeceased by his mother Margaret nee Carmody and his father Leo Snair.
Shawn James Snair was a man whose life was marked by kindness, quiet strength, and a sense of humor that brought warmth to everyone around him. Born on August 12, 1964, Shawn lived a life grounded in love, patience, and generosity, leaving behind memories that will be deeply cherished by all who knew him.
In 2013, Shawn returned to Calgary from Ottawa for work, a move that would change the course of his life. The following year, in 2014, he met Diesa, the woman who would become his partner in life and love. Their courtship marked the beginning of a beautiful love story, filled with shared moments, growing affection, and the joy of family, including Diesa’s first meeting with Shawn’s parents.
In 2016, during what seemed like an ordinary long drive with no expectations, Shawn proposed, turning a simple moment into one that would be remembered forever. In 2018, following the passing of Shawn’s mother, he introduced Diesa to his siblings, who welcomed her warmly and lovingly into the family. Their bond was sealed in June 2019, when Shawn and Diesa were married, beginning their life together as husband and wife.
Shawn found joy in simple pleasures. He loved reading, playing the guitar, and biking, and in later years, he enjoyed spending time playing games on his phone. These quiet hobbies reflected his gentle nature and his ability to find happiness in everyday moments.
Those who knew Shawn will remember him for his remarkable sense of humor, his patience, and his deep understanding of others. He was always helpful, always willing, and known for saying “yes” without hesitation. When asked how he was doing, his familiar and humble response was always, “I’m okay,” even when he carried more than he let on.
To his wife, Diesa, Shawn was a “Devoted protector and supportive soulmate.” To his family, he will forever be remembered as a “Gentle Soul.” To his friends and colleagues, Shawn was a good friend, a loyal employee, and someone whose quirky sense of humor made life lighter and brighter.
Music held a special place in Shawn’s heart. Songs like “Don’t Worry” by Bobby McFerrin and “You Are My Sunshine” reflected his outlook on life and the love he shared so freely with others.
Shawn James Snair will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered for the warmth he gave, the laughter he shared, and the love he lived by. His legacy lives on in the hearts of his wife, family, friends, and all who were blessed to know him.
