Sharon Marshall Obituary

Born in Hamilton, Ontario on June 9, 1945; with her three kids, son-in-law and sister at her side, Sharon died on February 7, in Calgary.

Sharon was predeceased by her father, Sigurd Frydenlund and her mother Cora Frydenlund. Left to mourn are her children Jeff (Aletha) Marshall, Carter (Ophelia) Marshall, and Paula (David) Timm; her grandchildren Estora, Parker, Waylon and Corser; her sister Joan (Doug) Freestone; and mother to her two eldest grandchildren, Chantel Marshall; as well as countless friends and family who cherished Sharon.

Sharon grew up in the community of South Allan, on a farm with her family. She was in the first graduating class from Walter Murray Collegiate in Saskatoon. Sharon loved singing and playing the piano; often entertaining family with home concerts, or singing solo or duet for special occasions at church. Sharon loved to dance and was a great dancer, she was sure to be at the bi weekly dances held at the South Allan Hall. She attended University of Saskatchewan in Home Economics and Education; she then taught one year at Clavet Composite and was soon married to Jim Marshall.

Motherhood was her favourite part of her life, she’d always say that she was so grateful to Jim for giving them three amazing children and that she got to stay home to raise them. She loved her kids and grandkids and worried about their wellbeing to her very last day.

Sharon was a good friend, she loved to catch up on the phone. A loyal friend; Sharon boasted friendships that spanned a lifetime; from her childhood, to sorority, to family, and to her sister.

Sharon moved to Calgary in 2002; proudly purchasing her own home. At 60 years of age Sharon acquired a Peruvian horse named Sequena - a sweet and sensitive mare that taught Sharon much.

We’ll miss Sharon’s love of a good belly laugh; we’ll miss her humour, her cunning mind, her perseverance; we’ll miss her simple pleasures, love of sweets, her deep spiritual devotion, her smile and her hugs.

We will have a celebration of life in the coming months, all are invited, date and location will be shared.
