With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend, Ryan Summers at the age of 48 years. Ryan lived his life to the fullest, full of generosity and dignity. He had the kindest soul and was full of spirituality and faith. Ryan would light up a room when he entered it and would give the shirt off his back to someone in need. A light has been diminished with his passing, and his memory will be forever in our hearts.
Ryan is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Gay; mother (Linda); sisters Monica Vettergreen (John) and Laura Taylor (Kevin); from Gay’s family, sisters and brothers-in-law Virgina (Ramon), Simeon (Marrietta), Mary Ann (Nick), Roland Rey (Norlie), Rosalinda (Benny), Maria Cristina (Rolando). Ryan also leaves to mourn many loving nieces and nephews who he very much adored including Haley, Quinn Taylor, Robert, Harvey, Rebecca, Lady Shaira, Patricia, Reiner, Dannica Mae, Ron, Belinda, Renan, Marilyn, Rad Cris, JR, Catherine, and Blessing. Ryan is predeceased by his father Richard Summers; loving grandparents, Peter and Joan Chorney; and Ernie and Lillian Summers; as well as by Gay’s parents Jose and Francisca; and sister Lourdes.
Ryan was born in Calgary and lived there for his entire life. He attended SAIT Polytechnic where he graduated with his Chemical Engineering Technology Diploma. It is at SAIT where he met the love of his life Gay.
For many years, Ryan worked as a Drilling Fluids Engineer Specialist and had the opportunity to work throughout the world including Northern Alberta and British Columbia, Prudhoe Bay, Alaska, and Australia. Ryan was very successful during this time and had many accomplishments and achievements. He was good at balancing the books, reconciling records, and helping out in anyway.
In his early 40s, Ryan attended the University of Calgary to complete his B.Comm Finance Degree. He was proud to receive his degree as a mature student with academic excellence. Ryan worked as a junior accountant until his death.
Ryan and Gay enjoyed travelling and had many exciting adventures with highlights, including a cross-Canada train excursion, a memorable vacation in Europe, and a trip to Indonesia.
