Rosemary (Drinkwater) Batdorf

Rosemary was born in Lethbridge Alberta to Thomas Owen Albert and Mary Elizabeth Drinkwater. Rosemary spent many years in Southern Alberta before moving to Calgary where she attended Sacred Heart school and St. Mary’s Girls School 1946. Rosemary entered Holy Cross Hospital School of Nursing and graduated in 1950.

Rosemary married Darrell Batdorf on January 27, 1951. Rosemary worked at the Holy Cross as well as a private nurse and also helped out as a florist. Rosemary was very involved in hiking and cross country skiing. Rosemary sang in the Holy Name Church choir.

She  joined the Catholic Women’s league in 1953 and has been a member ever since.

Rosemary is survived by sons, William (Bill) & Terri and Owen (Brad); four grandchildren, Brandice (Clive), Alison (Doug), Erica (Mark) and Christopher (Aline); seven great-grandchildren, Abigail, Brady, Madeline, Harriet, Isabelle, Bennett and Theodore. As well as many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her father, Thomas Owen Albert; her mother, Elizabeth Mary; husband, Darrell; brother Thomas Albert; sister, Margaret Ann;  sister-in-law Verna; brother-in-law CMDR Jim Moore; daughters-in-law Lyn and Linda; and great-granddaughter Violet Penelope.

The Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Name Catholic Church (2223 34 Street SW) on Friday, July 18, 2025 at 11:00am.
