It is with surprise and sadness we announce the passing of Rose Killen, beloved wife, mother and nana. She passed away suddenly at Foothills Hospital while in transition care before moving to a retirement home for those living with dementia.
Rose was born in Saint John, New Brunswick, the middle daughter of three to Burt & Pearl Campbell and is survived by her husband Tom; her 2 sons, Kurt (Carla) of Calgary, AB and their family, Samuel of Toronto, ON; Makenna of Calgary, AB; Jason (Jan) of Martensville, SK and their family, Sean of Saskatoon, SK, Sarah of Saskatoon, SK and Marissa of Saskatoon, SK; her sisters, Sandra Butler of Saint John, New Brunswick; Brenda (Phil) Cooper of Calgary, AB, her sister-in-law’s Eila Killen and Mary (Andy) McGuigan and numerous nieces and nephews.
Rose is predeceased by her mother, Pearl Campbell; her father, Burt Campbell and her brothers-in-law, Jimmy Killen and Joe Butler.
Rose was a hockey mom, a homemaker and a devoted Nana. Her commitment to her family, dear friends & charity to others was exemplified by her actions - the annual sewing of Bed Buddies to comfort small children in hospital, dropping of a meal, always there to support with a smile and a hug. Rose enjoyed shopping, golfing and celebration lunches with her lifelong friends. She was conscientious and compassionate with a heart of gold.
As a devout Catholic, she believed in the power of prayer, praying for all who were in need, often calling upon the Sisters of Charity for those who she felt needed additional support.
The family would like to thank all the hard working and dedicated staff at Foothills Medical Centre, specifically Units 47 and 71, who do such a wonderful job with a hard task, for so many families.
A Memorial Mass will be held at Ascension Catholic Parish (1100 Berkshire Blvd NW) on Friday, January 9, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. with a recording available below for those unable to attend in person.
