It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ronald Scott, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Ron departed this world on June 9, 2024, shortly before 3 pm, enveloped in the love and warmth of his devoted family.
Born on April 16, 1938, in Calgary, Alberta, to George and Helen Scott, Ron's journey through life was marked by his unwavering sense of humor and a heart full of love. From his earliest days, Ron had an extraordinary gift for bringing joy to every situation with his endless repertoire of jokes. No matter the circumstances, he could lighten any mood with his deep chuckle and quick wit.
On November 14, 1959, Ron married the love of his life, Donna, embarking on a remarkable 65-year journey together. Their union was a testament to enduring love and mutual respect, a partnership that weathered the seasons of life with grace and strength. Together, they created a loving home, welcoming four children: Debbie, Patricia, Theresa, and Doug. Ron and Donna lived a nurturing, family-centric life, instilling in their children the values of love, unity, and the importance of family bonds. These values are now being passed down to 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, spread across two continents and three countries. Ron was a lifelong fourth-degree member of the Knights of Columbus, where he exemplified the values of charity, unity, and fraternity. In his later years, Ron immersed himself in the rich history of his ancestry, uncovering and celebrating his family’s Indigenous heritage and leaving a lasting legacy that his family will continue to honor and celebrate.
When asked what he would do if he could live his life over again, Ron responded: “I would not change a thing. I prefer to count my blessings rather than play the "what if" game. Ron’s departure leaves a void that words cannot fill, but his spirit will continue to inspire and guide those who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of love and laughter lives on in the hearts of his family and friends. As we celebrate Ron’s life, we remember a man who embodied the true essence of joy, compassion, and unwavering love.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Gerard’s Catholic Church (8944 Elbow Drive SW) on Friday, June 14, 2024 at 11:00am. Reception to follow in the Parish Hall.
