Robert Brown Obituary

It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of our brother Robert Edward Brown of Calgary on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at the age of 55 years.

Robert (Bob as he was affectionately known to his family) was born on June 2, 1968, and was a native Calgarian.  He was the youngest child of Edward and Angela Brown.  Robert grew up in the community of Lake Bonavista, which he dearly loved.  He truly enjoyed going to the lake daily, and swimming and fishing were among his favorite pastimes.

Robert was an avid sports fan, and his extensive knowledge of teams, players, standings, etc. was impressive.  We would often say Robert could have been a sports analyst with his ability to remember all the stats he knew. His favorite teams included the Rangers, Flames and Ducks, the Seahawks and the Patriots, BC Lions, and the Red Sox and Blue Jays. Robert loved his sports so much he had multiple favorites within each sport category.  He was also a huge wrestling fan, something he inherited from his paternal grandfather Ted Brown.  Robert’s other passions were golf and bowling, and he was very accomplished at the latter and won many trophies.

Robert spent the last 15 years working at the Calgary Coop at Deer Valley.  He established many wonderful relationships there over the years and it has warmed our hearts to hear how he was loved by coworkers and customers alike.  The family would like to express their gratitude to Calgary Coop for their support during this difficult time.

Robert is survived by his sister Jacqueline Brown and brother James Brown, his nephew and niece Emerson Padley and Nicole Padley, and his aunt Margaret Greer as well as many cousins he loved on both his mother’s and father’s side.  He was predeceased by his parents Edward and Angela Brown (nee Papandreos), his grandparents Ted Brown, Millie (nee Eigner) and Lillian Brown, and Zisis and Alexandra Papandreou. Also, his uncle Ken Greer, his aunt and uncle Stomato and Kostas and cousin Giorgos Nasiopoulos, his uncle and aunt Ioannis (John) and Vaia (Julie) Papandreou and his uncle and aunt Athanasios (Tom) and Irene Papandreos.

Robert loved his parents dearly and had a very close relationship with them.  The loss of his parents during the last two years was very hard for him, and it brings us some peace to know that he is once again reunited with the people he loved the most.  Robert was a beautiful, unique and kind soul to all who knew him, and he will be dearly missed.
