Raffaele "Ralph" Buonincontri

It is with great sadness that the family of Raffaele Buonincontri announce his passing at Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary on Monday, January 29, 2018, at the age of 75 years. Raffaele was preceded in death by his loving wife Giuseppina; his parents Domenico and Filomena; his three sisters Giuseppina, Filomena and Immacolata; and his brother Tommaso. He is survived by his two children Filomena (Vince) Sodano and Domenic (Sonia) Buonincontri. Raffaele will also be lovingly remembered by his six grandchildren Josie, Michele, Alessandra, Antonietta, Ava, and Giovanni; his brother Gabriele (Angelina) Buonincontri; and numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews. Raffaele immigrated to Canada from Marigliano, Napoli in May of 1966, where he continued his profession as a tailor of upscale men’s wear, working for such establishments as O’Connors and Harry Rosen. Raffaele was always well-dressed, for which he was featured in TD Square Magazine as TD Square’s most stylish tailor, recognized for his dexterity and knowledge in suit alterations. Raffaele enjoyed singing and entertaining, along with spending time with his family and friends. He also loved decorating his house extravagantly for Christmas and won Calgary’s finest Christmas light display five years in a row. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers at St. Luke’s Parish (Corner of Northmount and Northland Drive NW) on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at 7:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Mary, Mother of the Redeemer Catholic Church (1714 – 14 Avenue NE) on Friday, February 9, 2018 at 10:30 am. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery in the Mausoleum. Photos, recollections, and condolences may be shared with Raffaele’s family through www.evanjstrong.com.
