Phyllis Edith Lichowit of Calgary, Alberta, passed away quietly on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at the age of 83 years.
Phyllis was born in Edmonton, Alberta, on October 4, 1939. She was the daughter of Mac and Lilly Johnson. She married Ray Lichowit in Edmonton in 1964, where Ray lived and worked in the energy industry. They relocated to Calgary in the late 60’s and started a family.
Phyllis enjoyed travel, gardening, going to hockey games and attending her weekly aquacise classes. She enjoyed sewing and reading and most of all enjoyed being active in the lives of her children. She was an active member of the Calgary Winter Club and the North Haven community for many years.
Phyllis will be fondly missed by her children, Doug (Kathryn) of Calgary and Patrick (Christine) of Calgary/Atlanta; grandson, Davis Lichowit; sisters, Eleanor Lewis, and Marion Enns; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Phyllis is predeceased by her parents; brother, Fred; and sisters, Audrey, Doreen, and Edna.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses in Unit 47 of Rockyview General Hospital for their compassion and efforts to aid her and the final care she received at Agape Hospice which brought comfort to her in her final hours.
Rest in peace Mom, you were loved.
The family will be spreading her ashes quietly in the mountains, that we all grew up visiting as a family.
In lieu of flowers friends and family are encouraged to make donations in her name to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada to fund continued work on blood cancers at www.bloodcancers.ca.
