Obituary

Phyllis Marlene Klepic was born April 12, 1942, in St Thomas, Ontario, and passed away peacefully on April 29, 2023, in Calgary Alberta at the age of 81.

Phyllis is the daughter of the late William Wilson and Hazel Garton and came from a family of four siblings. She is predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Jack and her son Dan. Phyllis will be lovingly remembered and survived by her brother Allan (Ila) Wilson; her daughter-in-law Cathy Klepic; and daughter Tracy (Trevor) Wood. Left to cherish her memory are 4 grandchildren: Rebecca and Andrew (Charmaine) Klepic, Nicole (Nate MacLellan), and Kimberly Wood; her great-grandson Jack MacLellan; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Phyllis loved her puppies Peaches and Lacee, and every time that we went to see her, she would always ask about her puppies first. “Blackie” was a favorite as she could hug and talk to the adorable stuffed puppy during her last days, and it made Phyllis smile.  Her love, compassion, and kindness extended to her family, friends, and even strangers that she met while out for a walk. She would proudly bake cream puffs or her famous “nuts and bolts” whenever she had a chance, or if she had a special request from someone (especially her Cream Puffs).  Her laughter could be heard from the hallways when friends or family visited bringing her a puzzle or coloring book. Phyllis kindness extended to the church community as she enjoyed helping when she could, attending retreats, and even hosting a prayer circle in her little apartment.

Phyllis enjoyed trips to the mountains; Banff and Lake Louise were among her favorites, as she relished in the calm, peaceful, and relaxing atmosphere while spending time with her loved ones.

Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing at St. Luke’s Catholic Church (corner of Northmount Drive and Northland Drive, NW) on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at 10:00 am.

Funeral Mass to follow at 11:00 am. Graveside service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery where Phyllis will be buried with “Blackie”, her favorite “Rosary” beads, and a blessed 50th Anniversary frame from the Pope.
