Phillip Kristensen passed away peacefully on October 27, 2024 at the Peter Lougheed Hospital at the age of 78 years.
He is survived by his children Stephanie, Jamie, and Joseph, sister Myrna (Gary) Lane, nephew, Steve (Braden and Cameron) and niece, Cher.
Phil was born and raised in Weyburn, Saskatchewan. He showed an early aptitude for fixing engines and motors. In his high school years, Phil became enthused with go-karts. He was a founding member of the Weyburn Kart Club and was its first president. He loved karting and travelled to races across the Prairie Provinces, British Columbia, North Dakota, and Washington. He had a skill with kart engines and shared his knowledge with fellow karters. After graduating from high school, he expanded his interest in engines and attended trade school in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Once completing a machinist course, Phil moved to Calgary, Alberta where he continued to live until his passing.
Phil was happy and proud to become a father. When the children entered school, he would volunteer to chaperone on field trips to spend additional time with them. He enjoyed driving them to and from school. Phil took them to Comic Con events. There were also trips to Northern Alberta to hunt.
Phil liked a good yard sale and visiting with his friends at the Hilcrest Market. He enjoyed the comradery that his breakfast and coffee groups provided. These groups were one of the highlights of his day.
At the time of his passing, Phil was being treated for Multiple Myeloma. Thank you to Doctor Dougan and Doctor Qureshi for their kindness and excellent care.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to a charity of your choice.
