Philip Francis Pereira entered his eternal rest September 11, 2023 at 88 years of age. He was born in Karachi to Gabriel and Florence Pereira. The eldest of three children, he was pre-deceased by his younger brother, Valens. Philip is survived by his sister Marie (William Wolfs); nephews, Bryan (Jennifer) and Valens (Maria); niece, Sarina (Zoran Zivkovic); and close friend Carol Johnson.
After graduating, Philip immigrated to London during which time he toured Europe playing the drums with big bands. After the death of his mother, he and his father joined his sister and family in Montreal. What a blessing this time was for his nephews and niece; together they played racquet sports, drums at the kitchen table, and board games. Philip loved to win!
After obtaining his BA degree in Accounting and his CGA designation, he worked in the oil and gas industry and was subsequently transferred to Calgary. Although he enjoyed his work at Petro Canada, taking early retirement allowed him to volunteer in Calcutta at Mother Theresa’s home and in an orphanage in the Philippines.
Back in Calgary, he volunteered with special needs youth, seniors, and church ministries. He lived a well-rounded life combining his musical and culinary talents with exercise, competitive racquet sports, and dancing. He lived life to the fullest and enjoyed every facet of his life, be it spending time with his family, volunteering, or partying. He charmed everyone with his infectious smile and as six year old Maria said to him “have a great time in heaven”. And all who honor him today wish Philip the same.
