Peter Lam (93) of Calgary passed away peacefully at home on the morning of August 7, 2026.
Peter was born on August 28, 1932, in Hong Kong and was the 4th child of Lam Yau Kan and Mok Yue Yan. He graduated from high school in Hong Kong and worked for the Hong Kong British Government until he retired, holding executive positions in different departments including disaster management and relief.
Peter loved travelling and had visited many different places in the world with his friends and family. After moving to Canada in 1989, he maintained his love for food and drink of his homeland, especially BBQ pork (Cha Siu) and Hong Kong style milk tea with plenty of sugar. Another of his passions was driving. Peter thoroughly enjoyed being behind the wheel and drove many different cars and SUVs over the years. He took great pleasure in leisurely drives, enjoying the freedom of the road. Remarkably, he continued driving until the age of 92. His independence, determination and enjoyment of life remained an inspiration to all who knew him.
Peter was preceded in death by his wife, Maria Carol Lam, and is survived by his two daughters, Constance Rosemary Lam and Sylviann Rose Fung; his grandchildren, Joanne Fung and Julian Stanford Fung; his sister, Constance Fung; and his brother, Issac Lam.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Peter's memory to the Canadian Red Cross.
