Peter Robin Fisher

Peter Robin Fisher was born in London, England on May 9th, 1937. He passed away peacefully, after a tough battle with cancer, on the evening of October 9th, 2023, at the age of 86. He lived and worked in three different countries as an Electrical Engineer, but always considered Alberta and the Rocky Mountains his home.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Isobel (Brodie); his daughter Eileen; sons Andrew and Paul (wife Julie); and grandchildren Alexandra, James and William. He attended Lancaster University in Coventry, England, while working for GEC and gained his degree in Electrical Engineering. Shortly after marrying Isobel in 1963, Peter made the move to Canada. Sailing aboard the ocean liner “RMS Empress of Canada”, he emigrated from Liverpool to Canada in 1964, with Isobel and his new Austin Mini. He drove his Mini from Montreal, through the rest of Canada, working for various oil firms for the next 40 years. Peter retired from Syncrude in Fort McMurray and moved south to Calgary with Isobel.

He spent the next 23 years enthusiastically enjoying the outdoor beauty around Western Canada, always adventurously hiking and skiing, with 3 Senior Outdoor Clubs in the mountains, including several GMC camps with the Alpine Club of Canada. He also travelled extensively with Isobel, family, and friends. Peter was a keen member of 2 Masonic lodges and the Al Azhar Shriners, including the Tin Lizzie Corps and the Shrine Clowns.

His family are thankful for the care of Alberta Health Services, the Tom Baker Cancer Centre, and the time he spent resting peacefully in the Southwood Hospice. Respecting Peter & Isobel wishes, there will be no funeral service. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
