Patricia Ann Bernard (née Shaw) passed away peacefully on November 13, 2025, leaving behind a lifetime of love, laughter, and kindness. She was a remarkable human — warm, compassionate, kind and quietly resilient. Everyone who knew her felt the love she brought into every room.
Patricia was a devoted mother, wife, and step-grandma. She is lovingly remembered by her partner, Richard Shortridge; her daughter, Cheryl Bernard (Terry), grandsons Evan & Connor; her son, Don Bernard (Trisha), grandson Devin. She is also survived by her sisters, Chris and Sheryn (Hank), and her brother, Colin (Lorraine). Family was everything to Pat, and she adored every moment spent with them — and with her grand dog, Ted. Friends, especially those from curling and Silver Springs Golf Course , were also a cherished part of her life, becoming an extended family who brought her many laughs and memories. She was predeceased by her husband, Bernie.
Patricia had a smile that made everyone light up. Gentle, steady, and full of warmth, it was her trademark — it lifted everyone around her. Her laughter, her smile, and her quiet acts of care are woven into the hearts of all who knew her.
She leaves a legacy of love, kindness, and strength that will continue to inspire. Pat's spirit will live on in her family, her friends, and in all the lives she touched.
An “Irish” celebration of her life will be held in the New Year. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
