It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Odile Chabot on September 25, 2026, in Calgary, at the age of 85.
Odile was born on November 1, 1940, in Gravelbourg, Saskatchewan. She was the eldest of nine children born to Ovide and Alfreda L’Heureux. She lived most of her childhood in Gravelbourg until she married her beloved Edmond Chabot on March 30, 1964. They were blessed with three children and together built a wonderful life for their family as grain farmers in Ferland, Saskatchewan.
Odile was a loving and caring mother and grandmother who cherished spending time with family. She was a wonderful cook and an even better baker. Her children will fondly remember enjoying her amazing cinnamon rolls, homemade bread, buns, apple pies and an incredible assortment of Christmas goodies.
While lovingly caring for her husband and children, Odile also enjoyed frequent trips to Gravelbourg for afternoon coffee with her mom and dad, summers tending to her beautiful garden, family vacations at the lake, couples bowling with friends, playing board games and cards with her husband and kids, and travelling to Hawaii and Mexico.
Odile’s greatest joy was being a grandma, and she loved her trips to Calgary and Bradford to visit her kids and grandkids.
Two years after the loss of her dear Edmond in 2010, Odile made the difficult decision to sell their family home and move to Calgary to be closer to her girls and grandchildren. She often expressed how blessed she felt to live so close to her loved ones and delighted in taking part in many family gatherings and celebrations. Odile was also an active member and volunteer with the Catholic Women’s League of St. Patrick’s parish and enjoyed many Sunday brunches with friends.
Odile will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her children and grandchildren: daughter and son-in-law Lise and Dwight Fieseler and their children, Cole and Nathan; son and daughter-in-law Leon and Gloria Chabot and their children, Adam and Megan; and daughter and son-in-law Line and Jon Pringle and their children, Mya and Tyson.
Also left to cherish Odile’s memory are her siblings: Edith (Roger) Bouvier, Denis L’Heureux (Madeleine), Stella Larson, Rheal L’Heureux; sisters-in-law Penny L’Heureux and Judy L’Heureux as well as numerous extended family and friends.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Albert the Great Parish (10 Prestwick Drive SE, Calgary, AB) on Monday, October 26, 2026 at 11:00am with a reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Odile’s memory to one of her favourite charities, the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation.
