Norman Anderson Obituary

Norm was born August 6, 1930, the fifth of seven children to parents Clarence and Margit (Bjerke) Anderson on the family farm in Willows east of Assiniboia, Saskatchewan. Norm passed away on June 26, 2025, leaving behind his beloved wife June (Aiello) of almost 71 years; his sons Grant (Shauna); Brian (Jan), daughter Julie (Hugh) and was predeceased by his son Ricky. Norm has three grandchildren; Danielle (Aaron), Rex (Dustin) and Tyler. Norm came to Calgary in April 1950 for work. In November of 1950 he met June at the skating rink and then they went dancing. They continued to dance for the next 75 years.

Norm loved his sports, from hockey (his favourite) to football and golf. In fact, Norm was a long-time member (68years) of the Thorncliffe-Greenview Community Association: volunteering for a number of hockey activities right from the beginning of their hockey program, ensuring the ice was always in good condition. He could also be found building, fixing and maintaining a number of carpentry and woodworking projects not only at the community centre, but also at Corpus Christi Parish.

Norm and June were an integral part of the hamper delivery program for St. Vincent de Paul at Corpus Christi, organizing the delivery process to make it very efficient. Norm drove many miles delivering hampers to the community at Christmas for more years than we could count. When not busy volunteering, you could find him on the dance floor with June any time a band played at the community centre. Norm was a dedicated worker for every employer he had starting with Canadian Pacific Railway, moving on to Canadian Pacific Air, running his own gas stations for Royalite, later to become Gulf Oil, just to name a few. Norm found his niche at Gulf Oil and in fact was the first million dollar sales representative for Gulf in Western Canada. He was always committed to working hard and doing what needed to be done for the family he loved.

Norm also loved woodworking, making furniture, bird houses, doll houses, model cars, trains, golf carts etc. for family and friends alike. You could find him in the garage happily smoking his pipe working on a project with his favourite country music playing in the background pretty much any time you dropped by. If you wanted something made of wood Norm was the man to call.

Norm, Husband, Dad, Grandpa, Papa, Friend, we will miss you dearly!

Happy Trails To You...Until We Meet Again.
