It is with deeply saddened hearts that we share the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Neil Ross, who passed away peacefully in Calgary on May 26, 2025, at the age of 90.
Neil was born in Swift Current and moved to Calgary at a young age. He was a proud graduate of St. Mary’s High School in 1954 and later attended university in Saskatoon, where he studied at St. Thomas More College, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree, before continuing on to Law School at the University of Saskatchewan, graduating in 1959.
He married his cherished wife, Sheila McGuire, and together they moved to Calgary, where they raised their family. He practiced law for many years, earning the respect and admiration of colleagues and clients alike.
Neil will be lovingly remembered for his devotion to his family, including his six children: Mark (Michelle), Michael (Lois), Lisa Thomas (Derek), Jennifer Lavens, Katherine (Don Short), and Paul. He was a proud grandfather to Garnett, Havard, Emily, Anna Lushington (Mark), Greg (Teri), Chris, Michael, Katie, Madeline, Mia, Rachel, Jessica, Jaime, and Matthew.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. James Catholic Church (5504 20th St. SW, Calgary, AB) on Monday, June 2, 2025, at 11:00 AM, followed by a reception in the parish hall. A recording of the service is available below.
