Mirsa Delogos Obituary

It is with deep sadness that the family of Mirsa Delogos, announces her passing on February 7,  2023, at the age of 75 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Mirsa is predeceased by her parents, Sappho and Prokopios Hatzikomninou, and brother Strati. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her beloved husband Peter; her sons, George (Melanie), and Prokopios (Anna); her grandchildren, Emily, and Olivia; her sisters, Eirini and Maria; along with many dear family members, and friends both here and in Greece.

Mirsa was born in Agiasos, Greece, on May 17, 1947. This is where she met and married Peter on March 25, 1969, and immigrated to Canada shortly thereafter.

Once in Canada, they made Calgary their home where she worked alongside Peter for many years in their restaurant businesses, and welcomed their 2 loving sons, George and Prokopios (Aki).  As much as she loved Greece and visiting her family when she could, she also loved living in Calgary and established a great community of friends that she held dear until her passing.

After the restaurant years, she started working in retail and loved it - she always had an eye for fashion so when she started working with luxury goods, it was no surprise that it was an area she excelled in. During this time, she also met many of her dear friends whom she thought the world of, and them her.

Mirsa was a woman that embodied love, strength, resilience, warmth, and grace. She was an avid gardener that had the most beautiful flowers.  If she was not gardening, she was with family and friends.  She not only showed love through time but with her delicious cooking. She was an amazing cook and baker and always loved hosting or preparing delicious Greek pastries to be dropped off for loved ones. Even when she was tired during her decline in health, she would still find the time. If someone said, “you should rest”, she would respond with, “it is my personality”, meaning she loved to provide joy and to care for others. She always made everyone she met feel welcome.

Mirsa loved fiercely and this was evident with her grandkids.  She always wanted grandchildren and would even say, “Every day I pray for Grandkids”.  When they arrived, they were so blessed to best Yia Yia (Grandma).  There was nothing that she would not do for them and loved them beyond measure and meant the world to her.  Every time you spoke to her, she would always end the call with, “Give a kiss to the girls from me.”

“When we lose someone we love we must learn not to live without them, but to live with the love they left behind.”
