Michael Andrew Christopher Violini

The Violini and Lonergan families sadly announce the passing of Michael on June 1, 2025 in Victoria, B.C., at the age of 77.

Michael was born in Calgary, AB, on November 7, 1947 to Ferdinando and Dorothy Violini.  He was the youngest son of 9 children, where he was nurtured and loved by all his brothers and sisters—Theresa (Bernie Coady), Catherine Cecilia (Fred Kubista), Rita,  John (Eleanor), Leo (Kay), Maria (Rod MacIsaac), Lou (Glynis) and Jeanette (David Fulton).  From this large family he became witty and gregarious, and if there was an audience, young or old, he was the entertainer!

Michael was married to Linda Watt in 1968.  He is survived by his 3 children, Michael Craig, Adam Mario (Susan, daughter-in-law and Takaya, granddaughter), Carmen Lynne Lonergan (stepdaughter), and his longtime partner, Gail Lonergan, all of whom he dearly loved and gave unconditional support for his entire life.

In later years, Michael suffered with many health issues, before finally succumbing on June 1, 2025, in Victoria, B.C.

Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 12, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1304 – 14 Street S.W, Calgary, AB.

We shall miss you, Michael, and may you finally rest in peace.
