It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Michael John Havery on Friday, January 3, 2025. A man of boundless love, kindness, and integrity, Mike was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, colleague, and friend. His passing has left an unfillable void in the lives of his family, friends, and the mortgage community, where he was deeply respected and admired.
Mike had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel seen and valued. Known for his warm smile and his signature greeting, “Better now that I’m talking to you,” he brought light and joy to every interaction. Whether sharing a classic dad joke, hosting legendary tailgates, or making sure everyone was looked after, he embodied kindness and generosity in all that he did.
As a father, he was nothing short of extraordinary—everyone's biggest cheerleader. His love of golf, football, skiing and hockey were only outshined but his love for his family and friends. He filled our lives with laughter, songs, and countless memories, his barbecues always memorable, and his devotion to our family unparalleled.
Mike was a pillar of support, a guardian of happiness, and the ultimate protector. He showed us how to live with integrity, love fiercely, and always put others first. His presence made the world brighter, and his absence leaves it dimmer.
He is survived by his loving wife, Beverley, of 27 years, his son Matthew and his daughter Vanessa. He is also survived by his parents, Cathy and Marvin, siblings Ann Marie, Tracey (Peter), Greg (Yvonne), numerous nieces and nephews.
While we mourn his passing, we find comfort in knowing he is singing and smiling down on us as our guardian angel.
For those who wish to attend, there will be a Visitation and Viewing at Evan J Strong Funeral Services South (5502 2 Street SW, Calgary) on Thursday, January 9, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. till 1:00 p.m.
Funeral Mass to be celebrated at St. Albert the Great Parish (10 Prestwick Drive SE, Calgary), on Friday, January 10, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.
Michael was so excited and proud of Matthew and Vanessa’s commitment to their post secondary education. In his honour, we would ask that in lieu of flowers or gifts, that a contribution to their education fund be made by direct e-transfer to bhavery@gmail.com. Thank you so much in advance for your kind consideration.
