Born in Calgary, Alberta, on December 20, 1983, the youngest of three siblings, Melanie was the jewel of her family. She spent many of her summers in Cyprus, surrounded by her family. The island, her roots, and memories of days spent in the sun were held close to her heart. She grew up deeply connected to her Greek community, where she formed some of her closest friendships that remained strong throughout her life.
Melanie was the embodiment of perseverance, determination, and independence. No matter what the world threw her way, Melanie would fight through it, pick herself up, and move forward again. No mountain was tall enough and nothing would stop her from achieving her goals. Her top priority was always her three beloved daughters. They were the centre of her universe. Providing a happy, joyous, and loving life for them was her purpose, and she never gave up. She ensured her girls were always wrapped in love. Her day began with them and ended with them. Always.
Melanie shone in any room she entered, with bright eyes always sparkling, and a smile that spread warmth and comfort. Even if you couldn’t see her, you knew she was there. She had an extraordinary gift for making others laugh and as a self-proclaimed comedian, and movie enthusiast her laughter always filled the room.
Known for her insatiable curiosity and ambition, Melanie was always in pursuit of new opportunities and never shied away from challenging herself to grow. She graduated from SAIT with a diploma in the Legal Assistant Program, which was the foundation of her career for many years.
Although she left us tragically, the deep love we all have for her will ensure her blessed ascension to Heaven and her place amongst the stars and angels. Good will always triumph over evil and light will always overcome darkness.
The depths of gratitude we hold for the time we spent with her will never be taken away. She reminded us all to leave a little sparkle wherever we went and that’s how she will be remembered. Melanie’s last few months were filled with excitement, joy, and pure happiness as a new and beautiful chapter of love began to blossom.
Melanie will be lovingly remembered by her girls, parents Andreas and Maria, brothers Chris (Danielle), and Demetrios (Michelle), nieces, partner Andrew, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins in Canada and Cyprus.
A Funeral Service will be held at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church on Monday, January 22, 2024, at 11:00 am. Graveside Service to follow at Edenbrook Memorial Gardens.
Fellowship will take place at the Hellenic Community Hall immediately after the graveside service.
