Mel James Portigal

After struggling for many years with health issues, Mel is now at peace.

Left to mourn and miss him is his wife, Eleanor; three stepdaughters, sons-in-law, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Along with his three surviving siblings, their spouses, and his nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his mother Rose; father Samuel; and brother Danny.

Calgary born and raised, Mel worked his entire career with the City of Calgary, retiring after 47 years of service.

If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made in Mel's name to the Calgary Humane Society or SPCA. 

A Celebration of Life will be held on June 27, 2022, at 1:00 pm, followed by a reception at Evan J. Strong Funeral Services North (3625 12 St. NE).
