We are truly saddened by the loss of our beloved mom, grandmom, and great-grandmom, Maureen Kiefert. She passed away peacefully in her home at the age of 85 years.
Maureen was born and raised in Wetaskiwin, then moved to Edmonton to take a job with Waterous GM Diesel. There, she met a young partsman, Ronald Homersham, whom she married on September 5, 1959. Ron and Maureen were married for almost 42 years before divorcing in 2004. Together, they had four children.
Maureen’s adult life was filled with so much loss, but throughout it all, she cherished her family. She loved being a mom, grandma, and great-grandma, and we loved her just as much in return. She made friends easily throughout her life and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Maureen is survived by her son, Bob, and his spouse, Kathy; Sue’s husband, Dave; Cory’s wife, Cher; grandchildren Kyle, Kari, Joel, Emily, Alicia, and Michael; and great-grandchildren Logan, Liam, Caitlyn, Ryan, and Hailey.
She was predeceased by her eldest son, Larry; her youngest son, Cory, who passed away in 2024; her only daughter, Sue, who passed away in 2022; and her grandson, Eric, who passed away in 2022 at the age of 13 years.
A Prayer Service will be held at Evan Strong Funeral Services (5502 - 2nd Street SW, Calgary, AB) on Wednesday, September 30, at 1:00 pm, with a reception to follow there, and thereafter at 1000 Lake Fraser Green SE, Calgary, AB.
