Maureen Jenkins Pender passed peacefully with friends and family at her side on January 27, 2025. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, James, and her son, Joshua.
Born in London, Ontario, Maureen is the eldest of five children born to Morris and Norma Jenkins (McDonald). She is survived by her parents and siblings Ronald (Judy) of London, Ontario; Pamela Sorensen (Eric) of Toronto; Dawn Vanhie (Frank) of London; and John (Kimberly) of Strathroy, Ontario.
She moved to Alberta in 1982 and developed close relationships with many who became friends and with neighbors. She exhibited a strong ability to connect with babies and young people.
Maureen wishes to remember her nieces and nephews: Baylea Mahoney of Toronto; Zachary Pender (Leanne) of Cali, Colombia; Jordan (Melissa) of Montreal, PQ; Haley (Scott) Rennie, of Ancaster, ON; Patrick Vanhie (Greg) of London, ON; Emily (Edward), of London, ON; Jack Drysdale Pender (Danica) of Waterloo, ON; Maggie Sorenson of Toronto and Dana Sorenson of Ottawa, ON.
Great-grand nephews Jones and Flynn Pender of Montreal, PQ; and Morgan Rennie of Ancaster, ON.
Maureen was a woman of humour, intellect, and deep convictions. She loved her family deeply and was involved with activities related to the arts, women’s health, politics, and the Church.
She was involved in various activities supporting important social causes such as education, poverty and homelessness, and the impact of addiction on child development. In lieu of flowers, if you wish to donate in memory of Maureen, please consider the following organizations:

Vigil Prayers will be held at St. Mary's Cathedral (219 18 Ave SW) on Thursday, February 6, 2025 at 7:00pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary's Cathedral on Friday, February 7, 2025 at 10:00am.
