It is with the deepest sorrow that the family of Mathieu Danis announces his passing, on Saturday, August 15, 2020, at the age of 34. Mathieu will be deeply missed by his mother, Monique Godin, his father, Marcel Danis, his sister, Michèle Danis (Cory Brulotte) and niece Emma and nephews William, Félix and Elliot.
Mathieu was originally from Gatineau (Qc) where he was a paramedic with the Cooperative Des Paramedics de l’Outaouais. He was moved to Calgary in 2013 for rehabilitation from a terrible brain injury that he suffered in an accident while doing the job he so much loved.
Mathieu was an avid athlete. When he wasn’t working, he could be found cycling, rock climbing, golfing, hiking, skiing, playing hockey or helping out his friends at a bike shop.
We will forever be grateful to his caretakers Filemon, Michael, Hiram, Tony, Colleen, Simone and Bonnie for their compassionate work with Mathieu. We would also like to thank the staff at both The Beverly Glenmore and Garrison Green residences that took good care of Mathieu. We would also like to thank the Association for the Rehabilitation of the Brain Injured who worked diligently with him for more than four years.
Details for a Funeral Service for Mathieu will be announced on the Facebook page dedicated to him “ Ondes positives a notre chum Math Danis!!!”.
Memorial donations in memory of Mathieu can be made to Right to Play Canada (www.righttoplay.ca) or the Canadian Paramedic Memorial Foundation (www.paramedicmemorial.org).
