Mary Valerie (Grzesina) Kreutz

On Sunday, May 21, 2023, Mary passed away in the company of her family, near and far, at Foothills Hospital in Calgary, to be welcomed into the arms of her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Mary loved cooking, baking, sewing, knitting, crocheting, and gardening. She was a devout and loyal Roman Catholic and loved being a bookkeeper. She is survived by her children, Heidi Grzesina, Kathy Grill (Joe), Peter, Andrew (Leigh-Ann), Edward (Rachelle), and James Kreutz; nine grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Helen Nitschke (Otto Maxim); her brother Andrew (Ida) Grzesina, along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Michael; her brother Franz; Franz wife Marianne; and her parents, Therese and Frank Grzesina.

The family would like to thank Father Matthew of St. Bernard’s Church in Calgary for his compassion and care, along with all her caregivers within the family, at Bow View Manor and at Foothills Hospital. A Funeral Service will be held at Evan J. Strong Funeral Services North (3625-12 St NE) on Thursday, June 1, 2023, at 2:00 pm, with prayers at 1:00 pm with a recording of the service available below for those who were unable to attend in person. Following the prayer service, please advise if you would like to share a memory. A reception will follow within the same facility. Please feel welcome to bring your favourite snack in tribute to Mary who loved to cook and bake.
