With profound sadness, we announce the sudden death of Mark Yost who died peacefully at his family home in Calgary on February 2, 2020.
Beloved son, brother, boyfriend, uncle, father and friend. Left to grieve his loss are Mark’s children Vivienne (age 10) and Evan (age 7); his mother Michelle Joynt; his girlfriend Jen; his sister Natasha Yost and niece Audrey (age 13) of Port Alberni, BC; his father Greg Yost (Kim Small) of Summerland, BC; his children’s mother Alison; as well as hundreds of friends and family.
Mark was gifted with a big personality and was a true friend to all who knew him. He would do anything for his friends and family and had a remarkable ability to brighten up any occasion or room. His sense of humour, generosity, determination, loving spirit, and genuine personality will be sorely missed by those of us who knew, respected and loved him.
In his early years Mark worked in restaurants and bars. Starting at the bottom and working his way up he became proficient at every job he had and became a very good cook. In his early twenties, Mark transitioned to an entirely different career working with adults with developmental disabilities and, once again, he excelled. Finally, Mark became a Journeyman electrician and spent his final 14 years as a commercial electrician. He was a proud member of the IBEW 424 and the brotherhood that came with that membership. Mark’s work ethic was admired and he took great pride in a job well done.
In lieu of flowers donations to The Canadian Cancer Society would be encouraged as would donations of blood to Canadian Blood Services.
We will be holding a Celebration of Life for Mark Yost on Saturday, April 25, 2020.
We hope that all of you, his friends and family, will join us.
The details will be posted on Mark’s FaceBook page in April.
