Marie Anne Gurtler (nee Fraser)

Marie Anne Gurtler (nee Fraser), 88, of Calgary, passed away peacefully in the presence of family on June 23, 2025. Having recently celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary, Marie is survived by her loving husband, William (Bill) Gurtler; her children: Wendy (Mike), Daniel (Janice), Kathleen (Darren), Patrick (Kim), Larry (Janet); her grandchildren: Valerie, Jarrett (Emily), Patricia, Bradley (Natalie), Luke, Maxwell, Alexa, William; and her great-grandchildren: Kahlia and Lilith. Marie was predeceased by her father Archibald; her mother Ellen; and brother, Archie. She is survived by her brother, Douglas, and sisters, Patricia and Bernice.

Marie grew up in the communities around Edmonton but spent most of her years in Calgary where she will be remembered for her kind heart, generosity, and deep commitment to helping others through the church. She will always be with us in our hearts.

A special word of thanks to the staff of Extendicare Hillcrest for their loving care given to Marie in the short period in which she was under their care. God bless you all.

A funeral Mass will be held at St. Luke’s Roman Catholic Church, 1566 Northmount Drive N.W., Calgary, at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 2, 2025. Her cremated remains will be interred at Queen’s Park Cemetery the following day.
